Why Are More Men Getting Botox® and Fillers?
Women have always been in the majority of people who get cosmetic procedures like Botox® and fillers. However, the number of men getting these aesthetic injections is growing. Find out why here.

Botox® and fillers accounted for more than millions of cosmetic procedures each year. While women made up the majority of these procedures, it’s becoming more mainstream among men as well.

At Atlas Health Institute located in Las Vegas, Nevada, our team wants you to understand why more men are choosing Botox and fillers and what goes into each procedure.

Men and aesthetic procedures

Women still dominate the world of cosmetic injections; however, the amount of men getting them is on the rise. Botox and fillers do tend to be the procedures of choice when it comes to anti-aging solutions.

The growing popularity of aesthetic procedures for men seems to be growing due to the following reasons:

  • Competition in the workplace: Many men feel they have to have cosmetic procedures done to compete with younger co-workers in order to fight against ageism in the workplace
  • Social media: Having social media or dating sites may be encouraging men to look their best for their online profiles
  • Encouragement from significant other: Some men may be getting these procedures done as the result of motivation from their partners

Some of the places men tend to get Botox and fillers are around their eyes, between their eyebrows, in their forehead, and around their mouth.

Explaining Botox and fillers

Botox and fillers are both minimally invasive cosmetic injections that are used for anti-aging. However, the similarities end there.

What is Botox?

Botox is a form of the toxin botulinum that’s obtained from bacteria. Although it can be deadly in large amounts, tiny amounts have been used for decades to correct wrinkles. Botox works by blocking nerve signals in order to temporarily freeze muscles. By doing this, wrinkles reduce and soften.

Botox typically corrects expression lines – wrinkles formed by muscle movement. This could be crow’s feet, frown lines, or laugh lines.

What are fillers?

Fillers – also called dermal fillers or soft tissue fillers – are designed to add volume or fullness to certain areas of skin. They’re made up of hyaluronic acid or a similar substance in order to correct cosmetic concerns.

Fillers correct issues such as thinning lips, shallow areas of the face, recessed scars, and shadows or wrinkles under the eyes.

Depending on what your aesthetic goals are, you can use one or the other or a combination of the two.
